When I was 11 years old, one Sunday afternoon, my father, took one of my siblings & me into the NZ Herald where he used to work. He had arranged for an old family friend who, at that time, worked there to come in & show us how to develop photographs.
It was a fantastic afternoon & started my passion with photography. I loved the whole process, developing negatives, exposing an image in the enlarger, watching an image slowly unwind on a blank piece of paper as the developer swished over the paper.
That afternoon, I learnt a few tricks of the trade; how to manipulate under & over exposed negatives when exposing the image onto the photography paper so the image came out just right. These skills I developed further while at high school during year 12 & 13.
I am also enjoying experimenting with the digital cameras on my smartphones as well as my DSLR.
